Wyland Galleries Opening
A great addition to Sayville, it brings something a little different to our village

Text & Photography by Michael Wikan on 11.17.2007

I spent over 6 years living within a few hundred feet of a Wyland Mural. One that spans over 580 feet long. Never did I expect that when I returned home, there would be a gallery opening in Sayville, as the nearest one was 1,300 miles south.

Today was the grand opening and all I can say is that it has exceeded my expectations. It was packed, all day and into the night. They had four artists, who are also represented in the gallery, there doing live painting demos, along with Darlene Wyland. The artwork is colorful and pops off the canvas, while the sculptures have personality. A great addition to Sayville, it brings something a little different to our village. With their many fans, it is sure to attract new visitors to our town.

Take a moment and stop in to view the artwork and say hello to gallery owners Gene and Louise.
