A work-loaded second to last week of school just went by and I am glad it did. I didn't think I would get to any developing this week but some deadlines changed and I decided to work on the homepage. This page is a beast in itself with the event and weather tabs, all the different news feeds, etc.
The weather tab is nicer than the previous version of Discover Sayville, as it provides the high and low temperatures for the day, reports humidity and displays an appropriate weather icon (designed by Rob, naturally).
I've also been able to improve my algorithm for sorting through the events list. It worked before but behind the scenes it is much more organized. The latest headlines also uses a similar idea, which provides the users with latest headlines in each major category DS reports on.
I hope to finish up the news feed later tonight and maybe look into the media tab or improving the 'downtown directory' near the bottom of the page. By the end of the weekend the homepage should be ready to go, which would be a major help to make our next launch sooner rather than later.
