Southside Hospital, founded in 1913, is Long Island's oldest and largest community hospital. Since its first days, Southside's mission has been to provide expert, compassionate medical care to anyone in need. From its modest 21-bed beginnings, Southside grew and thrived as Long Island expanded; adding beds, services, staff and training programs. With 377 beds, Southside offers quality care in medicine, surgery, obstetrics and pediatrics and provides inpatient, outpatient and home care services. Today, more than 18,500 patients are admitted to the hospital each year, and 2,700 babies start life in its Maternity Center.
